a performative encounter by Magdalena Kallenberger
Video, 4K, sound, German and English, 25 minutes
Inspired by the 1986 film Frauenträume by the The Erfurt Women Artists’ Group (Künstlerinnengruppe Erfurt), this new video work explores the dreams of women* today. Contemporary artists, poets, and performers from diverse backgrounds revisit the original film and share personal dreams, which are collaboratively staged and filmed in a green screen studio. Blending narration, movement, and visual metaphor, the work becomes a collective act of imagination—mapping feminist utopias, longings, and speculative futures.
Participating Artists:Jules* Elting, Mikala Hyldig Dal, Verena Kyselka, Nora Decker, Salma Said, Ellen Louise Weise.
The film was made on the occasion of the exhibition Our Voices at the Wilhelm Hack Museum in Ludwigshafen and as part of the project Auf den Spuren Bildender Künstlerinnen (In the Footsteps of Female Visual Artists) by Deutscher Künstlerbund (the German Artists’ Association) in cooperation with the art mentoring program of the Rhineland-Palatinate Cultural Office.
